Hobbyking delivery rip-off!
« on: 14/11/2014, 02:14:35 PM »
All,

Hobbyking carry a type of covering film that has a "brushed aluminium" type finish.

Link: https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__62898__Covering_Film_Bright_Silver_5mtr_406_UK_Warehouse_.html

It's shown in the International (Hong Kong) , UK and EU warehouses, but there's only ever stock in Hong Kong.

Tried to get some sort of ETA on stock in UK or EU, but nothing doing.

Finally bit the bullet, as I can't source this type of film from anywhere else.

Film costs £6-odd for a 5 metre roll(!), however delivery from Hong Kong is £18...!!!!!   >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Got some other bits on the same order, so I didn't feel so bad....

Looks nice stuff Jim.

Extortionate postage though. I guess you just check the total price and if that's still worth it, then it's er.. still worth it.

How's the Whizzza looking?

Chris

Whizza is coming along well. All major components are built but I'm now waiting for the covering before continuing.

Easier to cover ailerons then hinge them than other way round.

Currently I'm in Poland with the outlaws so no work on aircraft this week!

Hopefully there will be much Hobbyking goodness waiting for me back home.

PS: HMRC nailed me for another £17 import duty on that order...

Update: 25/11/2014

Finally received Hobbyking parcel last night.

"Brushed Aluminium" covering film looks sweet!

It really has got a very fine brushed effect.

I will bring it along to Club Night tomorrow if anyone is interested...
