Title: New member and Mode 2 transmitters
Post by: ron.biker on 12/06/2014, 11:43:46 PM
As a new member and a newbie to r/c have bought a Styrofoam model to bend while learning using mode 2, it has been mentioned that I may find it difficult to progress since most of the club use mode 1, is this correct ?. Ron
Thanks for your replies, I have a spektrum DX6i transmitter and a ST models cessna 182 if this helps.

Hi Ron

For a long time the club was almost exclusively mode 1, but more and more mode 2 fliers are joining.

I've been a mode 2 instructor for quite a while, but unfortunately don't get to the field very often to help.

These days, if you have a modern transmitter that will "buddy" (a cable connection between two transmitters) to your instructor, then there is no issue using different modes.

What exactly is your model and more importantly, what is the Transmitter?

There was talk recently of the club purchasing mode 1 and mode 2 transmitters for the club trainer for just this purpose. I'm not sure if that happened yet?

I'm away this weekend, but if you don't get anywhere beforehand, come and talk to us at the Fly in next weekend.

Cheers
Chris

Chris / Ron,

The club now has a Mode 1 Master transmitter and Mode 1 AND Mode 2 Slave transmitters.

That's what I use when I'm being trained, so (let's say) John has the Mode 1 Master and I have the Mode 2 Slave set.

Hope that helps...

Jim

Thanks for your views and suggestions,I have taken the route of having the transmitter changed to mode 1. Thanks again Ron

Ron,

The choice is yours.

Greenacres can train on Mode 1 or 2.

Have you started (maybe with simulators) in either mode?
